We have one client that we work with regularly who’s always sending us unique jobs, but this one might take the cake. She wanted us to create 700 elaborate invitations for one of Dallas’ biggest art events – the Eye Ball.
Back when the Perot Museum was first being built in Dallas, we took our decaled truck to Home Depot to pick up some supplies. When we came out, this stranger walked up and asked if we do graphic work. We said we did, and he asked if he could swing by the shop to see some of our projects.
We had a real-estate firm ask us to do a book for them – a high-end collateral they could share with potential clients. This was early on for us, so we hadn’t really made a name for ourselves, yet, but we saw this as a great opportunity to get our work out into the world and show what we could do.
We never thought that one day we’d work on a project for the President of the United States, but in 2010, that’s exactly what happened. President Obama kept making references to 7-11’s signature drink: the Slurpee. He mentioned it so often, CBS News’ Mark Knoller joked that Democrats and Republicans should have a “Slurpee Summit” to work through their issues.
We had a client who wanted to promote his business with a magazine article, and he needed help with the company’s logo. As we were talking, he kept stressing the most important aspect of the project was that the color needed to be the exact shade of yellow as his Lamborghini.
